Your baby is turning into a toddler. In these last months of the first year, many babies cruise along the furniture, wave, point, feed themselves and say a first word, and some take their first steps. They understand far more than they can say. Your baby grows from about 71 cm (28 in) and 8.6 kg (19 lb) to roughly 75 cm (29.5 in) and 9.2 kg (20 lb 5 oz), about three times their birth weight.
